Busy weekend.
So, a busy weekend.
Sat: Slow start, but eventually the local library (yay to Mum's library card). This was a good stop with a bunch of books we had been looking for for a while and some suprises ie new Guy Gavriel Kay (me), new Robert Holdstock (me and Z), new(ish?) Gene Wolfe (probably more Zish), new Eric Flint (Z), and also picked up "Fevre Dream" by George R Martin and "Dr Strange and Mr Norrell" by Suzanne Clark (? as the books aren't beside me at present) and "Eye of the Calculator" by Sean McMullan (all me). Definitely not bad for not the largest library in the neighbourhood. That should keep us occupied for the next 3 weeks.
Next was into town for BBQ and silly Viking movie night. Evil buses not picking up from the advertised spots. But made it fine. Wide ranging discussion and much food. Pathfinder was interesting (much skiing and saunaing), but "Curse of the Ring (and various other names for it, based on the Ring of the Nibelungs) was kinda special in odd ways. B-grade but with oddities. Nails on black board to Z* but I'm more tolerant and do want to get around to seeing the second half (if only for the train wreck you know has to eventuate). Lemon Merangue icecream was really nice as was the salty licorice. Late night. Fraidy cat Greebo.
Sun: Change to daylight savings meant slightly less sleep. Introduced to Moore Wilson (Z has his favourite dutch cocoa now) and check cars before heading to the Day o' Fun at S&Ts. Lotsa people, lotsa alpacas and general discussion of the geological stability of the area... and other stuff. Helped by unpicking. Much good food and good conversation. Rather wet and windy.
I now have an current SCA(NZ) membership. I handed the money over on Weds and got the card on Sat. This is good. Z is envious.
Time to crawl into bed with one of the many good books I think. Not certain how busy this week will be (there may be arrival of much stuffage at some point), though the next 3 weekends have filled up fast. Must chase up/make a zappable wheat sack at some point soon... and chase up sheepskin scrap for slippers.
* It is not really the right practice for Dark Ages smiths to melt their chunk of metallic meteorite in a crucible for casting in prep for sword making. It took a while for Z to stop twitching after that.

What size pieces and when do you want it?
I guess that translates as "I'll keep some aside for you at the party in case you haven't found any by Saturday".

Looking for either an A4 sized piece for soles/inserts (which would go with wool fabric uppers) - I don't have large feet, or if there is more available enough for the uppers as well - looking for a low turnshoe scale as opposed to Uggboot clunk.
