Whooohoooo....

After much muttering last night (from Z, Dad and me), a pause and a bit of reading of manuals, slow steady checking and appropriate rebooting from me, I got first our laptop talking to Mum and Dad's new wireless network and then Mum and Dad's machine talking to it. Yay to getting things to talk to other things.*

Then we quickly took Mum and Dad's machine offline cause it needed the security centre subscription renewed and was hence standing naked and unprotected in the internet... They can play with that this evening...

But it is nice to be able to use our computer and a nice fast net connection again:)

However it does mean 3 internet connectable computers in the house and 4 people...

*You may note unusual bounciness over doing this - while I may have used fancy geekish systems at various times, I often need to cry to sysman/helpdesks for stuff, so to have gotten things happy by myself is a nice thing.

I use Avast at home. It's free for home users, gets daily updates etc.

We use Avast on our laptop as well. It may even not clog things up as much as Nortons. Don't know if we will be able to convert them to that.

May try Skype though :)

However, the less said about Vista, Explorer and M&Ds email the better. Your brains will just dribble out your ears and it will hurt too much..

They can get access in certain ways, but not others and recognising the options doesn't seem to be an option.

Grump over that.

The rest of the computers are happy though.
