Weekend sumary...
It being that time of the week where you stumble into work and wonder why you didn't get more sleep over the weekend while you (in theory) could...
Fri night: Stage Beauty at the film club. Was very good and I would definitly recommend it - an appropriate degree of bawdiness for the late seventeenth century and encounters with Charles II's court:) Didn't go out playing pool after the W&P shut, in order to get a vaguely early night. Then got home and was suckered in by a strange Korean movie about ghosts and suicide clubs on SBS. Hello 2:30am.
Sat: Glorious warm day. Mmmmmm, Lifeline second hand book fair. We were only going to briefly drop by, then get back to fixing the tent... HA! More than an hour and a half and 30+ books later... Didn't pay more that $6 for anything and there were a bunch between $1 and $3. For an idea of the size, double or triple the size of the Theatre Royal Book sale and increase the average age of the books by a couple decades while maintaining the age range - they described it as the second largest second hand booksale in Aussie - next one is in March 2005. And a very good SF/Fantasy collection. We now have a lot more coffee table early archaology books as well as some penguin History of Britain (Prehistoric to Late medieval), and some fiction as well. Took a while to achieve escape velocity. Markets. Then managed to put up the Viking tent on the patch of concrete in the front of the house. It just fit. staranise's picnic - nice park, warm weather, lots of people and very nice food (including strawberries and chocolate dip:). Home and worked on tent door - safety pin markings. Dinner, then film club again for Mr and Mrs Smith - brainless popcorn but fun. Home, dishes and bed while Z fixed the forge. This took a little longer than 45 min...
Sun: Trash and Treasure, then off to BeorgWic site for shifting rocks to make plinth for Viking Tent. Unfortunately we didn't end up shifting rocks the way we thought we would ,cause we needed to dig the foundations. This took slightly longer than expected ie its not quite finished yet. The dirt was fine, it was just the fucking rocks and roots half my wrist thick that were the issue. Hmmm, we will be working on stuff this Fri... and maybe Sat... And it drizzled. Pout...
But the trip back made up for it cause we had very nice pizza from the woodfire Pizza place in Braidwood. If in Braidwood, visit their bakery (what would be vaguely reasonable pies in NZ, are award winning pies over here - good chicken satay pie), cafe/bookshop, and woodfire Pizza place.
We also saw kangaroos from a distance (the best place in a car), several hares and rabbits, a frog (which we hope we didn't run over, but aren't certain), and a genuine live moving wombat:) 2 years over here and that was the first. Dead ones are common out Braidwood way (at least 5+ on the way in), but this one was munching by the side of the road when we pulled over and got a good look at him. Got camera shy and ran off at quite a clip, but still, WOMBAT:)
And today, we are in the clouds, it is raining on and off, and time for lunch:) And I have only photographed one cockatoo at the window.
