The perils of this time of year: Nothing like checking in with your referees to discover one is on annual leave til Jan 7 (and may be slow to reply to email - autoreply currently engaged), and you have the nasty suspicion when you talked to another one (in Nov) that she is on holiday with family for at least some of Dec. No idea about the other*. But there isn't really anyone else who has worked closely with me in a professional capacity (small groups...). This may damage likelihood of hearing about things before Christmas. Oh well. Things will grind through.
The other is only having short amounts of time before disappearing 1st up to Taranaki, then ~2 days, then back down south. Very short amounts of time for:
a) Christmas shopping (not that I was planning to do much anyway).
b) Watching any of the DVD stack gotten out on Mon (5 of which I haven't seen 3 and would kinda like to see the other two) and due next Tues.
c) Reading the Octavia Butler vampire book "The Kindred". Last novel she wrote before she died, and so far, very good.
