Went and saw PotC3 on Fri evening as was getting restless and needed to get out of the house. Went just in time for the 8pm showing at a northwestern multiplex Cinema ($13 per adult except Tues, when it is $9, which is very good over here unless you have access to the ANU Film Club - I miss that), expecting that would be sold out and we would get in the 9pm showing. Nope, straight into the 8pm showing with 5 min to go and no queues, with good seating near the centre towards the front and noone in the seats in front of us and an aisle in back. Audience was mainly giggly high schoolers and there were plenty of spare seats. It only opened the night before. What happened? Though it appears to be a common reaction.
WRT to the movie itself. It was a Pirates movie. Pretty explosions and special effects. Some good actors who could have been given far better lines. What do you mean complex storyline? Missing the nice corsetry of the first one. And it had an ending, which put it well ahead of the 2nd movie. Though I would like to know if it was just me or whether a certain scene had people thinking Agincort or Harfleur and inserting "Upon St Crispin's Day" at the end of every third line.
Home dried apple and strawberries are far nicer snack food in a movie than various lollies as you skip the sickly oversugared feeling at the end. Don't worry, the amount of butter and salt on the homemade popcorn definitely suffocated any pretext of healthy snackness.
Should finish those books due back at the library today. Have a couple days leeway though.
