Dust dust dust EVERYWHERE... Or I got to see where Z works.

Tis 12:54 am, have finished dinner now and it would be a good idea to go to bed soon since we got at 6am...

So I got to head out into the wild dusty yonder with Z today. We were originally planning to stay overnight out there, but things finished early and now, we are back.

So, I saw lizards and farmers and occasionally sheep and dust and salt bush and WTF green grass and kangaroos and dust and emus and galas and kimberlite and dust*... And I got to wield a tape measure, read off numbers and write down numbers and label sample bags... and listen to the occasional rock bouncing off Z's hardhat while he sat in the (4.5m deep) trench and poked at rocks below... And it was hot and there were flies but it was also fun.

Left site round 4:30pm and due to the scenic route dictated by fences and track layout, emerged back into Adelaide round 10pm. Unloaded our stuff at home but then had to return the truck, equipment and samples to Z's work. Had fun watching the thunderstorm to the east flickering away while a loud concert appeared to be going on somewhere nearby and we unloaded stuff.

Then needed to get home.

Tracking down a bus into town wasn't bad - there was a button to press and it told you how long til the next bus and it was only 11 minutes (though there were very odd time dialation effects around the 9-8 min mark) and it was a covered bus stop when the rain started pelting down while the thunderstorm rolled by. Then Z noticed the bus didn't take the usual route and there were crowds of people coming out of some thing as we got into town - BIG crowds. Delays delays. Got off the bus early and wandered the crowded street giggling at the silly fashion choices. No bus - finally found a timetable and found the last one had left at 11:30pm anyway (about when we caught the first bus). Eventually got a taxi - yay for taxi ranks and people in reflector jackets swinging lights outside the railway station. Found out the fuss - we managed to time getting into town with a nice big thunderstorm and the escaping crowds from the bloody Clipsal 400(?exact number - bloody V8 car racing) evening concert. Oops and will remember not to do that next time - or even in the next few days, since the main racing is apparently Sat and Sun. Fri night down town was even more bogan central than usual.

But the rain has cooled things down nicely, it is my turn for the shower and emu arses wiggle in a very funny fashion when running.

*Dust was the hyperfine bull dust which does wierd superfluid things like sucking onto your feet and flowing and was fun to play with while Z had rocks bounce off his hardhat.
